New Mexico
White Sands Missile Museum & National Monument

These are the mountains looking down on Las Cruces. I thought they were just gorgeous. They were actually right across the street from the RV park I was staying at, but the best picture I had of them was from when I was steaming down the road.

The Patriot Missile. For some reason this reminded me so much of all the footage I remember from the first Gulf War.

I've read about the V-2 rocket before, but there was nothing like seeing the immensity of it in person. I don't think you can even get the scale in this picture. It's 46-feet tall, 5 1/2 feet wide and has it's own building. Germany dropped over a thousand of these on England.

Doesn't this look like I stopped in New York?

You can only go six miles into the monument because they had so much rain last year that it hasn't all evaporated yet.

This is the sumac pedestal. See how it's made a little net to protect its lump of sand?

And this is the 6-foot tall yucca with a 40-foot root.
